Last year, more than 1,000 authors published with ASHA Journals because they recognize our journals as some of the leading places for research in communication sciences and disorders. We’re happy to once again reveal this year’s Journal Impact Factors™ (JIFs), which show that our influence in the sciences only continues to grow!
Journal Impact Factors™ from the Clarivate Analytics Journal Citation Reports™ track the influence of articles in our journals through citations. Annually, Clarivate Analytics reports JIFs as 3- and 5-year averages, reflecting the short- and long-term reach of research.
Our New Impact Factors
For the second year in a row, Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools (LSHSS) had the highest 3-year and 5-year JIFs among ASHA Journals. The 3-year JIF of 3.0 tied the journal’s highest impact factor, while the 5-year JIF of 3.4 represents an all-time high for LSHSS. Together, these figures made LSHSS the highest-ranked speech-language pathology journal by JIF!
The American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology (AJSLP) has expanded significantly during the past 5 years, moving to six issues a year and adding a second editor-in-chief to accommodate the increase in submissions. The 3-year JIF stayed consistent at 2.5, whereas the 5-year JIF jumped from 3.1 to 3.3.
JIFs also increased for our flagship journal, the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research (JSLHR). JSLHR had the biggest 3-year JIF increase, jumping from 2.2 in 2024 to 2.5 in 2025. The journal’s 5-year JIF also went up from 2.8 to 2.9.
The American Journal of Audiology (AJA) largely remained steady with a 3-year JIF of 1.7, just shy of an all-time high of 1.8. The journal’s 5-year JIF rose to 1.9, showing the lasting scholarly influence of AJA.
