The American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology (AJSLP) is pleased to announce the selection of Natalie Douglas, PhD, CCC-SLP, as an incoming editor-in-chief. Dr. Douglas will begin her term on January 1, 2027, and will serve alongside fellow editors-in-chief Amy L. Donaldson and Rita R. Patel.
Dr. Douglas’s Background
Dr. Douglas is an associate professor in the Department of Communication Disorders at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She earned a master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Ohio University in 2003 and a PhD from the University of South Florida in 2013.
Since 2024, she has served as an editor for AJSLP. She previously served as an editorial board member of the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research (JSLHR; 2021–2022) and Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups (2020). In addition to these duties, she also served as guest editor for a recently published forum in Perspectives highlighting person-centered dementia care.
Dr. Douglas has reviewed articles for all four of ASHA’s journals that cover speech-language pathology. She has served as an author or a co-author on more than 100 articles and book chapters since 2002, and her work has garnered more than 1,200 citations. Her research interests include communication and person-centered care for people with dementia in nursing homes, communication access in health care settings, and implementation science.
