The ASHA Journals publish hundreds of articles a year with the help of a dedicated team of researchers around the world! To most of us, 2023 might still be fresh, but we’re looking for our 2024 Editors and Editorial Board Members (EBMs), and applications close sooner than you think.

About Our Editors

The Editor position is perfect for someone with a lot of experience as a peer reviewer looking to contribute even more to quality peer review. Working under their assigned Editor-in-Chief (EIC), Editors manage peer review for a team of EBMs, assigning papers to members of their pool of EBMs and rendering editorial decisions after considering reviewers’ comments.

All five of ASHA’s journals will be accepting applications for Editor in 2024. Explore the mission and scope of each of our journals to be sure you’re applying to the one that best suits your expertise. If you haven’t made up your mind, you can apply to multiple journals, but keep in mind that you’ll only be able to serve one.

You can learn more about an Editor’s expectations and qualifications on the ASHA Journals Academy. Applications are open now and close on May 19, so be sure to submit your application and also share the Call for Applications with any interested colleagues.

Even More Opportunities to Get Involved

Not sure that the Editor role is right for you? Each year, hundreds of scientists from all backgrounds support ASHA’s journals by providing peer review for the articles we publish every day.

EBMs apply for a 1-year term and commit to reviewing at least 8–10 articles per year. After that, EBMs have the opportunity to apply to serve for multiple years. Find out more and apply on the ASHA Journals Academy.

Want to help out without being committed to a minimum of eight reviews? Submit your name as an ad hoc reviewer for opportunities to be invited to review articles in your area of expertise in situations where EBMs can’t.

We Can’t Wait To Hear From You

Similarly, we expect all candidates to reflect these same values and commitment to equitable, accessible, and inclusive publications.

We hope you consider filling out an application—whether you’re a first-time applicant, a returning member, or someone looking to take on a new position with us. Don’t forget to share this post or any of our tweets with friends or colleagues who may be interested.
