The Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research (JSLHR) is pleased to announce the selection of Bharath Chandrasekaran, PhD, as the new editor-in-chief for the Speech section of the journal. Dr. Chandrasekaran will begin his term on January 1, 2019, replacing Julie Liss, PhD, who is retiring from the position at the end of 2018.

Dr. Chandrasekaran is a professor and vice chair of research in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Pittsburgh. His research examines the neurobiological computations that underlie speech perception and learning, using an interdisciplinary, computational, and lifespan approach.

Dr. Chandrasekaran’s Background

Dr. Chandrasekaran previously served as an associate professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas at Austin. He also held a postdoctoral position at Northwestern University.

Dr. Chandrasekaran received Early Career Awards from the Psychonomic Society (2016) and the Society for the Neurobiology of Language (2018). He is the recipient of the JSLHR Editor’s Award in 2014. He has served as an editor for JSLHR since 2017.
