We’re already a few days into 2026, but before we officially recycle our 2025 calendar, we’re looking back on a successful year. Whether you followed us all year or this is your first visit, we hope you join us in reflecting on some major milestones.
By the Numbers
Last year was a success in a number of ways. We published more than 970 articles, beating our previous record by more than 60! Readers downloaded ASHA Journals articles more than 3 million times, representing a sixth consecutive year of growth.
In addition, we’ve also published a record number of open access articles. This demonstrates our authors’ commitment to open science, and the importance of transparency in publishing.
None of these would be possible without the work of the editorial boards, authors, and ad hoc reviewers who kept these articles moving. We’d like to thank everyone who worked to bring this content to ASHA members and contribute to the sciences.
Decades of Clinical Content Available to All ASHA Members
We spent the latter part of 2025 preparing for a brand new development. For the first time ever, Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups is available to all ASHA members!
Perspectives is a peer-reviewed journal, publishing around 170 articles a year with a goal of bridging research and practice. If you’re new to the journal, you can start by checking out the December issue, featuring more than 50 articles and four forums on popular topics in communication sciences and disorders. We hope you take advantage of this exciting new ASHA member benefit.
Finding and Reading ASHA Journals is Easier Than Ever
We’ve introduced a few new ways to find ASHA Journals articles. Notably, we’ve partnered with ResearchGate to create Journal Home Pages. These pages give important information about our journals, including how to submit, to people who find our articles on ResearchGate.
For more than a decade, readers have been able to find ASHA Journals on social media. In addition to our profiles on X and Bluesky, you can now read ASHA Journals updates on LinkedIn.
Finally, we’ve added a new way for reviewers to receive recognition for their work on ASHA Journals. In addition to our existing partnership with Web of Science, reviewers can also get credit for their reviews through their ORCID iD.
Finally, we’ve increased our efforts to make the ASHA Journals website more accessible to individuals with a wide range of abilities! You can learn more about steps we’ve taken, and steps we’re planning to take in the future, on our accessibility page.
Preparing for the Future
Last year was the first year of our Article Peer-Reviewer Training Program, which paired postdoctoral fellows and early- and mid-career researchers with experienced editors in ASHA Journals. This program allowed these researchers to practice writing reviews that provide constructive feedback to authors in a collegial spirit and participate in important networking opportunities.
We’d like to thank our mentoring editors for their work guiding a new generation of peer reviewers! Stay tuned later this year for more on the Article Peer-Reviewer Training Program, including how you can get involved.
Making 2026 Even Better
ASHA Journals and our Editorial Boards are already hard at work making sure we continue our stellar growth this year. We look to publish even more research and continue to improve the ASHA Journals program.
Thanks so much for checking in as we recap 2025. We’re not done looking back just yet, be sure to join us next week as we look through some of our most read articles of the year.
