As the bilingual Spanish–English population in the United States continues to grow, you may feel unprepared to work with these patients—particularly if you’re monolingual. During the past 5 years, we’ve published dozens of articles containing ideas, information, and resources for ASHA members working with Spanish–English speaking children and their families. Now, you can find a sampling of these articles—and more—from ASHA in our latest Special Collection.

Guidance From the ASHA Journals and The ASHA Leader

The ASHA Journals provide the Special Collectionwith 25 articles from four of our journals. We’ve divided the articles into the following categories:

  • assessment
  • intervention
  • speech and language development
  • caregiver training
  • translations

This clearly organized structure provides an easy-to-use landing page full of information—and the ability to find what you want quickly.

These 25 articles represent recent and trending resources that have been cited or referenced on social media. Be sure to check out the articles and learn more about the research that’s really making a splash in the professions!

In addition, the Special Collection contains articles and blog posts from The ASHA Leader with even more information—topics cover everything from early identification to family and educator support.

Resources From ASHA

At the end of the collection, ASHA’s Practice Portal and other resources provide information on ethics, service delivery, and collaborating with interpreters and translators. The featured Evidence Map on Cultural and Linguistic Diversity can provide clinicians with even more information to help them adopt evidence-based practices.

Finally, the forum contains information for parents and caregivers to ensure that they’re included as a vital part of any services provided. A number of these resources are available in both English and Spanish, making them more accessible for all members of the family.
