Dr. Beverly is an associate professor in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of South Alabama. Her research on language development and disorders has addressed applied populations (e.g., specific language impairment, reading disability, autism) and has incorporated diverse methodologies (i.e., group designs, meta-analysis, and qualitative analysis) within interprofessional collaborations. Dr. Beverly has served as editor for SIG 1 of Perspectives since 2014, after 1 year as an associate editor for the publication previously known as Perspectives on Language Learning and Education, and she has served as a reviewer for the ASHA Journals since 2003.

Dr. Sandage is an associate professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Auburn University. Her research focuses on hormonal influences on voice assessment measures and vocal function; muscle bioenergetics and fatigue resistance aspects of voice function; and environmental influences on voice function.

Dr. Sandage received a master of science in speech-language pathology from the University of Iowa (1992) and a PhD in exercise science from Auburn University (2012). She is widely recognized for her clinical expertise in the areas of voice and upper airway disorders, singing voice rehabilitation, and the assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders secondary to craniofacial disorders. Dr. Sandage has served as editor for SIG 3, Voice and Upper Airway Disorders, since 2018, serving on the Editorial Review Committee (now the Editorial Board) from 2015 to 2018.

Contact Information

Dr. Cone is a professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona. Her courses focus on electrophysiology and cochlear implants and other implantable devices. Dr. Cone’s work as an author was featured in the inaugural issue of Perspectives on Hearing and Hearing Disorders: Research and Diagnostics (now part of Perspectives) in 1997. Dr. Cone served on the SIG 6 Steering Committee (now Coordinating Committee) from 2006­ to 2011 and also served on the ASHA Board of Directors in 2016.

Dr. Finn is a professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education at the University of Georgia. His research focuses on applying critical thinking skills to evidence-based practice, developing tools for assessing students’ and professionals’ critical thinking skills, and exploring methods for helping faculty develop their knowledge and skills for helping students to think critically. He has served as an associate editor for the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology and has served as an editor for Perspectives since 2016.
