Call for Editor-in-Chief

EIC: Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups – SIGS 6, 7, 8, & 9 (2025-2027)

Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups is seeking an Editor-in-Chief to oversee group 3 of the ASHA special interest groups (SIGs) for the three-year term beginning January 1st, 2025 and ending December 31st, 2027. Perspectives is published bimonthly and is a review journal focused on bridging the gap from research to practice and advancing knowledge translation in the field. This EIC position would oversee the following SIGs:

SIG 6: Hearing and Balance Sciences: Research and Clinical Applications
SIG 7: Auditory Rehabilitation
SIG 8: Public Health Audiology
SIG 9: Pediatric Hearing and Hearing Disorders

Responsibilities:

  • Assigns submitted manuscripts to editors.
  • Monitors performance and timeliness of editors.
  • Recruits content, including special content collections, forums, and individual articles.
  • Serves a three-year term starting January 1, 2025.

Qualifications:

Individuals appointed to this role must have substantial experience in reviewing and editing manuscripts, in addition to a strong reputation for research. Further, as noted in the Council of Science Editors White Paper on Integrity in Scientific Journal Publications, the Editor-in-Chief is expected to be “skilled in the arts of writing, editing, critical assessment, negotiation, and diplomacy.”

Additional Requirements:
EICs must be an ASHA member and an affiliate of a Special Interest Group.
